At the beginning of September was has the first Brett and Marci Nilsson Family Reunion. It was so much fun getting to be with the family for more than just a few hours. It is funny to see how they are all the same as when they were younger and very different. Now that most of the siblings are married they have changed with spouses being added but yet they still joke the same, eat cookies the same and enjoy each others company. Tanner and I got up to the cabin in Park City a little later than we initial planned because we stopped at Logan Pattison's wedding reception in Holiday. It was in her grandparents backyard and it was beautiful. It had a stream growing around it with fish and a large grassy area. It was so great to see the family from Tanner's mission. They are the most kind people I have met and so genuine. When we traveled there a few years ago they were so generous and let us stay with them and borrow a car to drive around New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
We finally made it up to the cabin and ate dinner, talked and got settled. The next day we woke up, ate breakfast, went to Swiss Days, and made it back just in time for the start of the first BYU football game. We were all pretty excited for the game. With a family of basically all boys who are all BYU fans. This was a must see. Aubrey, Chance, Leanne, Chad and I played a game while watching the game and while Layla slept. Then, we ate lunch and relaxed some more. Then after the game we decided to get the girls in their swimming suits and let them swim in the pools in the master bathroom and the rest of the adults got into the hot tube outside. We had a delicious dutch oven dinner.
Sunday we went to church it was a very interesting ward because it was a ward just for visitors. They did not have a bishop or anything but a sacrament meeting which had about 800 people this time.
That day we had Aubrey take family pictures of all the family. That night we ate and played games.
The next day we checked out of the Cabin and headed to a park. It was a LONG day at the park but we got to keep spending time as a family.
Teaching Time:
Every morning Layla and I have teaching time where I teach her about a letter, a number and colors. She is already learning so fast and can already say 1-10. Most of her ABC's and can pick out the letter A and B in words. I love our time doing this together even though some times her attention only lasts 3 minutes. Our next subjects will be our 5 senses.
Taste of Utah County:
We had the experience of going down to Provo and attending the Taste of Utah County with Austin and Jessie. It is where a bunch of Utah County Restaurants bring food for you to sample and the money goes to charity. We got to eat a few food trucks and most of the other booths. It was a lot of fun getting to spend some one on one time with Austin and Jessie since they have been living in North Carolina for the first part of the year. There were a few restaurants we liked and will probably try later and a few that we probably wont go to. Layla's favorite part was going down the big inflatable slide. She wanted to go on in over and over again. They were starting to take things down so we decided it was time for us to head home and get ready for another BYU football game.
First Emergency Scare from Layla:
Layla and I were playing and she wanted to go up the stairs. She walked up one step and was going to the second step when she feel on her hand and bumped her head against the wall. I was really nervous about the her head but then she wouldn't stop crying about her hand and wouldn't use her right hand at all. She would start to cry anytime she had to use it. We decided it was time to take her to the insta-care for an x-ray just to make sure something wasn't broken. I knew that her bones were still mostly cartilage especially in her hand but I still wanted to make sure.
They did not find anything that was broken from her shoulder down to her fingers but she still wouldn't use her right hand much and the next few days her whole hand got VERY bruised and was hard purple. We are glad that they didn't find anything broken that eased our minds a lot especially with how bruised her hand got and we were out of town the two days after this happened.
So much fun stuff! That sacrament meeting sounds so interesting.
