The Many Adventures of the Nilsson's

This month is known as the birthday month in Tanner's family. We have 6 birthdays in one month plus my sister has her birthday in May. We have Mckay, Austin, Brett, Aubrey, Annalee, Leanne and basically Chad ( His birthday is June 2) .

Tanner and I celebrated his dad's birthday by taking him and Marci out to lunch. Layla and I picked up Tanner at his work and then went to lunch his parents. It was nice for us to have some one on one time with Tanner's parents and really get to have a conversation with them. Even though I spent half of it outside walking around with Layla it was still a great day. After lunch, Layla and I went to say hi to some of Tanner's coworkers. It is funny that Layla can tell when she is talking with a doctor.

For my sisters Birthday we went to dinner and then came back to our house for presents. I always enjoy having my family over at my house and am lucky they live close enough to come sometimes.

We did celebrate again on Memorial day for Brett and Aubrey. We are sad that we did not do much for McKay, he is on his mission in Norway and then Austin is living in North Carolina for the summer.

This month, I set up a time with the Nilsson girls to learn how to make bread with Grandma Nilsson. We truly enjoyed our time and we learned so much. Hopefully, I can remember it and use it. That night we ate so much  bread of all different kinds. Orange rolls, cinnamon rolls, pigs in bankets and so many more.

We were lucky to be able to go to the Payson Temple Open House. We went with my brother and his wife Jacqui and her friend. Layla did really well. She liked to point at things and try to touch things. She did not really like to walk in the shoe covers but it was so cute watching her walk around in them. We loved to see the temple and get to spend that time with family.

Critical Mass Concert: My cousin Jonathan and Emily are in a group at Orem High School called Critical Mass which is an Acapella group. Tanner, Layla and I went to the concert and enjoyed it. They did a wonderful job.

Leanne and I were on a walk the other day around the temple and we were talking about birthdays so Tanner and I thought it would be a good idea to invite them over for birthday dinner. So, We did invite Chad and Leanne Came over for dinner. We really enjoy getting to spend time with them. They are so relaxed to be around and the conversation flows so well. So, since they both have birthdays coming up we decided it would be a great way to celebrate with them. We made fried rice and pot stickers for them. Then, Brett and Marci came over to drop some things off and we got to spend time with them. It was a wonderful night.

We did a two part Memorial Day weekend. Sunday we went with my mom down to her dad's grave site and got to spend some time talking about him and his life. He was truly a wonderful man and father. Then we had dinner at my parents house. The ribs were so good and we got to spend time with Alec, Andrew, Jacqui and my parents. We started to plan our trip a little more for Alaska this summer. We are really excited to get to go again.
Monday, we took it easy in the morning and went for a little run to the park and let Layla play. Then, we got ready and headed up to Sandy to spend the night with Tanner's family. We visited his Haw's grandparents and then had some dinner and played some basketball. Even in heels I was able to shoot pretty well. Tanner and I love to spend time together and it is nice to spend some of that time with our families.

The happenings at the Nilsson Home

Curbing-

We finally were able to get the curbing around our flower beds.
We did not want to do it last year so that we could save up some money and
get what we really wanted. We are loving it! We are hoping to get some flowers
in next year but we did get some mulch and three bushes in this year.
Next, I am working on putting together mosquito repellent plant gardens.
I have the pots ready now, I just need to pick our the plants and plant them!
Tanner and I love working in our yard and do it every chance we get.
Our vegetable garden is growing so well and we love watching it grow!
Alec's Last Soccer Game-

We were all able to go to Alec's last soccer game of the Spring season.
It was just pre-season but we hope to get to see him play in the fall also.

Stake Conference-

We are enjoying having Jace and Jenna in our stake.
During Stake Conference we were able to sit by each other and let the girls play.
Then at the end they all got to ride in Jace and Jenna's stroller in the church.

Little Girls photo shoot:
For Mothers Day for Marci we decided to get pictures of all the grand-daughters,
taken by Aubrey of course. It was so much fun and Layla was loving it.
She loves being outside and being able to play with other kids. Here are just a few of my
favorite ones.  Okay, I want to put all of them but I shouldn't so, here are a few.

Youth Conference-
Tanner was in charge of a music devotional at Youth
Conference this year. He was able to work with some very talented youth in our area.
He really enjoyed getting to share the spirit through music and getting to connect with
more of the youth in our ward up at Aspen Grove where youth conference
was held. I wish I could write more about that experience but it is Tanners to share.

It was fun to get to here her play and sing this song in our home. Layla really enjoyed getting
to hear her sing. She couldn't help but go into the living room.

We had another boy that is on the same LDS Youth soundtrack but I cant remember his name.
He was so sweet and very talented. He played the guitar and piano at our home to practice also.

Mother's Day-
This was my second mothers day. I was pregnant three years
ago so I kind of count that one but this is my second one with Layla here.
It started out a busy day as always. We had to wake up and be ready by the time McKay
was calling from Norway at 8am. I did to teach my Relief Society lesson on the
Book of Mormon at 9am so we were trying to get all of that together and get Layla ready
and fed before we went. I did let Tanner have time on the call so while I was doing everything
else. He was so great and woke up even earlier than me to make we breakfast in bed.
My request was scrambled eggs and toast. He even had flowers and presents ready for me
down stairs. Then, after the missionary call we were headed to church. I know I get stressed
when teaching but I truly enjoy my calling. Church was good and then we came home to open
presents,  eat lunch, my request was for our extreme BLT sandwiches. Tanner truly spoils
me every year and for any holiday! I got a vacuum that will do stairs!!,
(I have been asking for a better vacuum for the stairs for awhile) then new jeans, and a
CAMERA. Which I am still learning how to use but was great day! We then got everything
together for the rest of our night and headed down to my parents to say Happy Mother Day
to my mom. We gave her a DVD of my grandpa( her dad's) birthday video
that was made just before he passed away and a hard back book of his written history.
Then we enjoyed time with them and watched Meet the Mormons. After we headed to
Grandma and Grandpa Nilsson's. It is always good to catch up with family but by this point
of the night my voice was almost gone and it was SO loud in their home that I was straining
my voice just to talk! I couldn't help but talk with family though. Then we got home and tried
to put Layla to bed but she was so over stimulated from the night that she wouldn't go to bed.
She would only let Tanner by her and she just would cry if I came near her.
So, It wasn't the perfect end to Mothers Day, but I enjoyed my whole day.
