Up Until Now

I keep trying to think of what has happened in the last month and it seems like so much that I cant even write about each thing. To start our with we had a few birthdays in the last month.  Jacqui's birthday was on February 18th. We went out to dinner at Goodwood and then to my parents for presents and ice cream. It was fun to celebrate her birthday for the first time in our family.  Tessa's her FIRST birthday on March 2. We went to Annalee and Chad's house for a party. With dinner, dessert and of course presents! The little girls were loving all the new toys that Tessa received and wanted to play with them right then!  My mom's birthday was just yesterday March 5th. We were able to go to dinner at a new restaurant to us called Wild Zucchini. It was pretty good food. Then since we were close to our house Tanner and I had my family over to finish the night with cake, ice cream and presents. It is always a lot of fun getting together as a family and celebrating one person!

Oh this last month we had a lot of fun at Farm Country at Thanksgiving point with Emari, Tessa and Annalee. Layla was running around trying to see all the animals. There were a few that made to much noise for her that is was scary. Like the turkey's they were very loud and Layla at first was intrigued but then she started to get scared. We got to take a carriage ride and see all kinds of animals. ,Then Layla and I needed a little adventure the other day so after we ate lunch we headed over to The Museum of Natural Curiosity. I am so grateful that it is so close. Layla could stay there for hours running around following other kids and touching everything! She is just like her dad and loves the Motion Room. She kept going in there all day. Watching things move and seeing how they work. I cannot wait to see what she is like when she is older. We had a few run ins while there with some parents not liking the way we were "playing" but I feel confident in the way I am teaching my daughter and the way I play with her. I like to be by her side and talking to her and helping her understand how things work and how to play. Lastly it SNOWED finally. I have been dreaming about this for months. Not having snow since Christmas has been killing me. Every time there was news of snow in Utah I would run to the window to see if it was outside our house and it never was but then Tuesday it snowed! So, Layla and I stayed in our pajamas and built a fort, read books, ate snacks, painted, played games and watched a Tinker Bell movie which is the only TV we can get to pay attention too.  She is hilarious and we love that she is getting to be smart and understand and independent.
Also, the more things we do out of the house like going to museums and park. Layla gets a cold two or three days later! It is such a bummer having a sick baby. That would be the only reason why I am excited for spring and summer to not have a sick baby anymore!

Tanner has been so great in making sure that we have a date night every week!! Best husband ever! Some night we will do something more special just at home but some night we get to go out and do something fun! Our last two dates were to the Home and Garden Show, and Salty Dinner Theater. The home and garden show at UVU was a little lame to us this year. With just having built a house in the last year and a half and already having the basic landscaping down we were kind of disappointed in the amount of stuff that applied to us. But we still had fun and Layla was loving the candy and games that were there to play. It was fun to get out and go to things together.
The Salty Dinner Theater was SO SO funny! We got to see Pride and Prejudice with a funny twist to it. There was singing and dancing and a little bit of the real story line. We got to eat while this was all happening and met some nice people that were sitting at the same table as us. We even got up and danced ourselves. New adventures, New dates, and trying to be brave and do new things. All are happening at the Nilsson home and we are hoping it continues to keep our life more and more interesting.

To Love and To Cherish

It is February already. Not only is it February but it is the middle of February. I cannot believe how fast time has gone. Well, just a little update on our life here in the Nilsson home. We have been trying to stick to our new year goals and doing pretty well so far. We have even talked about stepping a few up a notch. The only one I am working on a little so slowly is getting our 3 month food storage supply going. I have made a list of the things to get but have only checked on two things on that list. I still have 5 months though so I will keep working on that. We have had to much fun with this warm weather, the cousins living close and with Valentine's Day.

We have loved spending almost every afternoon out in the backyard even if it is just for lunch time. We have been able to play with cousins a lot. (Layla cousins) Having Jace and Jenna live close and my sister Annalee and her husband Chad has been so nice. It has been the perfect thing for a stay at home mom to get some adult talk and especially with family. I have needed that being in a quiet home most of the day.

Valentine's Day out our house is a week long celebration. Especially with Tanner! I love it so much. This year we did a date night Wednesday day/night because Tanner doesn't work so we got to spend the  whole day together. We went for a couples massage and out to dinner at Market Street Grill. We love to spend as much time together as we can. Tanner is my best friend but the best part is dreaming and planning our future together. It makes me so excited each time. This year I got a poem each day and then on Valentine's Day we exchanged gifts and he wrote and sang a song for me. It was still a little rough because he couldn't practice while I was home but the song is my favorite gift. I got him a Nixon watch. Which I haven't done since we got married so it was a surprise. Then Tanner also got me a book by my favorite author and a new swimming suit.  We got to give Layla a new outfit and a teddy bear. He loves the bear and gives it hugs and kisses each time she sees the bear. We ate heart shaped pancakes in the morning because waffles are reserved for Brett and Marci's Valentines dinner with the family. Which we love each year! It is so fun to get a kiss and a squeeze each year. We played at the park for part of Layla's gift for the day and then we had a salmon salad for dinner with a chick flick for our night with the red velvet cheese cake from Cheesecake Factory. Our only Valentine's tradition for us is that cheese cake. There was so much that happened that day! I believe that I have the most romantic and caring husband for me! He is my dream man and knows just how to show me he loves me.

The rest of our month has been great with weddings, farewells, and a new adventure each day. Like finding out after having a baby that I am more blind than I thought so Yay! for stronger contacts to help me see!

Layla is growing and is able to communicate so well. She can point at what she wants, or grabs our finger and shows us exactly what it is she wants. She can do the sign language actions for food, more and all done. She loves to play ALL the time. Especially with her cousins and outside. She is 14 months old and growing to fast.

Our life is so full with love, happiness and new adventures and we couldn't ask for anything more.
